All About Our Weekday School.....

The goals of the Nashville United Methodist Church (NUMC) Weekday School are to provide a safe and nurturing Christian environment that is dedicated to meeting the developmental needs of children 2 – 5 years of age.

The NUMC Weekday School teachers foster a Christian atmosphere for play and learning. 

• Learning occurs through hands-on active exploring and experimenting.
• Developmental appropriate materials will be introduced periodically by the teacher.
• Children will be active and creative in their activities and thinking skills.
  

Purpose of the Program

• To serve as a ministry of the Nashville United Methodist Church.
• To provide enriched learning experiences for individual children within a group setting.
• To serve as a resource to parents and programs serving young children in the community.
  

Program Description

• The educational program is designed to help children develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually.  We have the following guidelines and goals that are followed:
  • Helping children develop an awareness of their own feelings and learning how to express those feelings in acceptable ways.
  • Children learn that they are free to make choices as long as they stay within the limits of consideration for people and the environment.
  • The curriculum prepares the children to use their intellectual and creative abilities and apply them to future learning tasks.
  • To offer children a spiritual awareness of strong values and morals that will guide them through their growing years.
  • There will be pledges, prayer and Bible stories to begin each child’s morning.
  • The classrooms are set up in learning centers, which include blocks, art, science, math, dramatic play, books and manipulatives.
  • Centers are refreshed with new materials on a regular basis to invite new exploration and renewed interest.
    

Organization

• The Weekday School is a private, non-profit pre-school sponsored by Nashville United Methodist Church (NUMC).
• We address a growing need by providing quality early education for children 2 – 5 years of age in a loving Christian setting. 
• NUMC Weekday School is governed by the NUMC Weekday School board, which is composed of members of the Church, parents of children enrolled, and the Director of the Weekday School. 

Staff

• The educational program staff of the NUMC Weekday School consists of a director, classroom teachers, and teacher assistants when needed. 
• The teachers are knowledgeable in the development and education of young children through formal training or the equivalent. 
• Our teachers create an atmosphere in which learning can take place and each child’s particular needs are met. 

Days and Hours of Operation

• School hours:  9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• Teacher’s hours:  8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Holidays and inclement weather follows the Nash/Rocky Mount school schedule.

Security

• The Weekday School makes every effort to have a safe and secure environment for children.
• Doors to the church remain locked during school hours.

Monthly Tuition

• 2 year old class -- $115.00 (Tues., and Thurs. class)
• 3 year old class -- $115.00 (Tues., Wed., Thurs. class)
• 4 year old class -- $115.00 (Mon., Wed., Fri. class)
• Pre-K                 -- $165.00 (Mon. thru Fri. class)

• 2 year olds, Ratio 2:10
• 3 year olds, Ratio 2:12
• 4 year olds, Ratio 2:14
• Pre-K, Ratio 2:14
