Pastor Profile: Wayne Hicks

God has given me the desire to help people discover the joy of knowing him, following Him, and worshiping Him. I believe that the health of a church is determined by the vibrancy and consistency of its discipleship, times of true worship, and outreach into the community. Each of these will help believers to experience God's grace and motivate them for risk-taking evangelism. Churches should not be led by a few overburdened church workers, but by many well-equipped disciples who have a sense of being part of what God is doing right where they live, right now.

I graduated from Randolph-Macon in Virginia with a B.S. in history, and from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity. I have enjoyed extensive training from The Royce and Jane Reynolds Program in Creative Church Leadership, the National Institute of New Church Development, and The Church Growth Institute.

The most vital aspects of my ministry in the church focus on:

1. Vibrant and sincere praise and worship of God.
2. Clear teaching of God's Word through preaching, and the ministry of small groups.
3. Intentional involvement of children, youth, and adults in ministry and outreach.
4. Training, mentoring, and development of ministry leaders of all ages.
5. The transformation of traditional committees into more effective ministry teams.

My immediate family includes my wife April, our daughter Heather, her husband Scott, our son Andrew, his wife Fanny, and two grand children, Elizabeth and Arnold.
